Moon Hammer
/
Moon Hammer is a kaleidoscopic Denver supergroup of musicians from Moon Magnet Collective. Ishka and Megan's neo soul inflected vocals soar over jazzy electronic dance music. The band was born from the wreckage of the original Moon Magnet Studios, demolished by the landlord to make way for an evil villain's secret lair.
What survived the move was the Moon Hammer sessions: a rotating cast of friends crowding in, a constant bustle, a living thrum that permeates the music. People coming and going, talking and laughing, having sudden ideas and laying down tracks quickly before their ride arrived, and always the sacred saturnalia of Baba Pizza.
The best introduction to the band is the new single, "Snakey," followed by the Moonsongue EP. All Moon Hammer songs were produced at Moon Magnet Mixing & Mastering in Denver, CO. Most sessions and tracks have a different lineup, so each one is a serendipitous thing. It could be anyone playing the xylophone that day, or venerating the pizza, or holding their mouth open so the mic can pick up the sound of the Pop Rocks. Moon Hammer features Moon Magneteers Reed Fox (déCollage/Bun Bun), Ishka Bee Phoenix (Ghost Tapes), Megan Crooks (Mouth Cathedral), Neil Lyons, Jeremy Averitt (The Yawpers, Joshua Trinidad, Esmé Patterson), and Mark Emmons. Former members include Sean Dandurand and Dylan Johnson (Dandu/Other Black), Kevin Netz (Yonbre), and Venus Cruz (Super Distant Boyfriend).
