☆ Day 4 of Aliveness ☆

Vortex Chooseroo

In the beginning - there was a whole lot of nothing! Until a balloon full of glitter exploded in all directions, putting the ‘big’ in ‘big bang’.  It was really hot and still mostly nothing (with exception of a few simple molecules traveling nearly at the speed of light), but then the Cosmic Oven got cooking!  The recipe called for a lil’ bit of gravity, some plasma and a few dust bunnies for good measure.  It took a few hundred million years, but eventually - out came the solar system (which is actually a planetary system - our’s is just called the solar system, named after our sun). Little did anyone know … this chronicle had just begun…

Vortex Chooseroo is a music video created by Max Geimer and Reed Fox. They have been working on déCollage-related visuals for eleven  years. Over time, their collaborations have spanned from live painting to theatrical dance interpretations of aliens and mummies at Red Rocks Amphitheater and serving oysters at Meow Wolf. This project was born out of creating a visual narrative to accompany déCollage's live performances.  ‘Vortex Chooseroo’ is a handmade  'studio' version of that story. This music video is a delightful collection of slimy synths, gooey guitars, and viscous vocals - rendered in paint, mylar, glitter, cotton clouds, & dinosaur puppets - a pure aphrodisiac for the eye-shells.

Here's a snippet from a companion zine of poetry I made while making this record. Enjoy!

WhAt do you do for A living.png

           Coffee, black coffee,

Is the gardens of my soul,

    Happy hour unfolds to

Some glitter in your lap.

Ya you sneaky oysta

Call me mista kissa

I’m staying right out of the city,

Far away from all these dreams,

Far away from polytities* that bring children and wives

You bleed out creativity

Love is your plight

Peace brings beautivity

Make your work a Light

Make it a Light

Jam bam whya thankin me m’am

Tone that flat neck big bud,

Where ya at? Whya gettin off topic?

Can’t stop your blood from not thawin

You’ll still get burnt on sunscreen

Bobo locked the world in his easy bake

I’m on airspace, flying mystic lady

Give me ticket for a faster flight.

Without Texas, travelled 3 hours to the Newark,

I’m with Harry in Tandem

Things make sense and you like it girl

Oystas in New Yoyk

Party favors in Humboldt

Couch fires in the street

Trolley around this garage of trains

A wild high and 900 pretzels

How long can we eat this way?
