From the MCA Denver Rooftop to The Garden Between

Moon Magnet founder Reed Fox has had a busy stretch of Denver shows.
On Friday, August 28, Reed performed at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver as part of MCA Denver’s B Side Music Fridays series, sharing the rooftop lineup with HabiBeats Band.
Now, less than a week later, he’s heading to another unusual Denver performance setting: The Garden Between, a Cirque Gala for Hypnagogia.

The MCA Denver show brought Reed to the museum’s rooftop for B Side Music Fridays, a summer series featuring Colorado musicians in one of downtown Denver’s most distinctive live music settings.
Reed’s set drew from the electronic side of his work as a DJ and producer, combining house music, synthesizers, samples, remixes, and the slightly strange approach that runs through a lot of Moon Magnet
related projects.
He shared the evening with HabiBeats Band, whose music blends Mediterranean influences, indie pop, and live instrumentation.
For Moon Magnet, the MCA show felt especially fitting. Reed founded Moon Magnet in Denver in 2013 as a DIY music collective focused on shows, releases, and collaborations. The company has since expanded into music lessons, DJ services, recording, mixing, and mastering, while live performance has remained part of the picture.
Next Up: The Garden Between
The next stop is much less like a traditional concert.
On Thursday, September 3, Reed will DJ The Garden Between, a cirque gala and fundraiser supporting Starry Night Productions’ upcoming original circus theatre production, Hypnagogia.
The event is designed as a surreal, immersive garden party. Guests can expect live circus performances, theatrical pop ups, previews from Hypnagogia, music, giant flowers, and other elements inspired by the dream world of the upcoming show.
Reed will be DJing throughout the evening.

From Rooftops to Dream Worlds
One week can apparently include both a museum rooftop and a surreal circus garden.
That range is also pretty representative of Moon Magnet’s history. What started as a Denver music collective has grown into several different branches, but performing, collaborating, and getting involved with unusual local events is still a major part of it.
