Reed Fox Honored with CU Denver Outstanding Alumni Award

Our founder and creative director, Reed Fox, just received the Outstanding Alumni Award from the University of Colorado Denver's College of Arts & Media!

CAM has only given this award twice, and Reed is one of the first two people to earn it. The college recognized him for what he has built in music education, in community, and in Denver's independent arts scene since 2013. That's the work Moon Magnet was founded on, so having it recognized by the school Reed came up through means a lot to all of us.

This One Belongs to Denver's Music Community

Even though this award has Reed's name on it, he'd say that it belongs to a lot more people than him.

Moon Magnet runs on a simple idea: the world is a better place when its people can connect and express themselves through music without being overlooked. Some of that happens in a living room during a kid's first piano lesson. Some of it happens at a wedding at 11pm when the floor is packed and nobody wants to leave. Some of it happens at 2am in the studio when a song finally clicks. Through any situation, our purpose remains the same.

An award like this from CU Denver is a reminder that the work you put in matters, and that Denver is an amazing place for music lovers can thrive and build a life. Whether that be teaching, performing, recording, or running the business behind it.

From a Small Collective to Three Denver Music Companies

Moon Magnet started in 2013 as a small artist collective, a handful of local musicians and their gear playing gigs and sessions to help each other keep making things. Eventually, that collective grew into three music businesses, all still based in Denver.

Moon Magnet Music School now works with more than 100 students across the metro, and its teachers come to the student's home instead of the other way around. With a team of 28 experienced instructors, we provide personalized in-home music lessons in Denver, designed to make learning accessible, engaging, and inspiring for students of all ages and skill levels.

Moon Magnet DJ Productions runs weddings, corporate events, school dances, and more all across Colorado. It was named Best of Denver by Westword in 2026 and Best of Zola in 2025 and 2026, which is a nice way of saying a lot of dance floors stayed full and fun.

Moon Magnet Mixing & Mastering supports independent artists and organizations with any audio production services they could ever need. We've done recording, mixing, and mastering services for places like Meow Wolf, Adult Swim, and Alamo Drafthouse, just to name a few.
